Cecil Ball, 32, of Nocona, died in a Wichita Falls Hospital Sunday morning at 8:30 o'clock. He was admitted to the hospital May 14 and had undergone two major brain operations in an effort to save his life. Ball was shot in the right side of his head two weeks ago while visiting in the home of relatives in the Nocona oil field. He was released from the Nocona hospital after emergency treatment, but paralysis set in and he was transfered to Wichita Falls. Relatives said Ball had been despondent over separating from his wife. He went to Nocona several weeks ago to visit a nephew, Bob Ford. An operation to remove pressure on his brain was performed last Monday night and the patient reacted favorably. However, a second operation was performed Thursday at noon to remove the .22 caliber lead slug from the left side of his brain. Physicians regarded his condition as critical throughout the week. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Kate George Ball of Missouri and a niece, Mrs. Bob Ford of Nocona. Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Spanish Fort Methodist church, conducted by Rev. Hughes, pastor. Interment was in the Nocona Cemetery arranged by J. B. March's funeral director. Source: Nocona News - May 25, 1934
