Co. D, Texas Frontier Regiment _____________________________________________________ J. M. GRAYSON DEAD Yesterday afternoon about two o’clock at the old homestead in the Valley the spirit of J. M. Grayson passed into the great beyond. He had been sick for several days and his death was therefore not unexpected. "Uncle Jimmie" as he was familiarly called by most everyone, was an old resident-er of this county having come here in an early day and settled near Red River, where he has since lived and reared a large family. He was of a progressive nature and during his life accumulated a nice competence in this world’s goods yet with all of his success he was plain in his manners and un-ostentatious in his bearing, preferring the plain simple life on the farm to the other short pleasures of the present day life. He was here during the Indian days and went through the hardships of the frontier life, also having held many places of honor and trust at the hands of his neighbors and friends. Funeral services will be held this afternoon, after which his remains will be laid to rest in the city cemetery at this place to await the morning of the resurrection. Source: Nocona News
