He was in the Army Air Corp during WWII and a recipient of the Purple Heart with 2 Oak Leaf Cluster, distinguished Flying Cross, Distinguished Unit Badge with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, American Defense Service Medal, Rame Campaign Medal with 1 Bronze Star, Air Medal with 1 Oak Cluster and Good Conduct Medal. He was a rancher and had worked in the oil field. Funeral services for Mr. Henley were held Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at Jerry Woods Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Tommy Lamascus, and Jennifer Howard and Mike Boyd officiating. Interment was at the Nocona Cemetery under the direction of Jerry Wood Funeral Home. Surviving relatives include: two daughters, Marion Boyd and husband Mike, Evergreen, CO and Thelma Sue Henley, Spanish Fort, TX; one son, William H. Henley and wife, Nocona, TX; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one brother, Raymond Bedford Henley and wife, Pat, Mesquite, TX; special friends, Jennifer Mallory Howard and Douglas Mallory; and several nieces and nephews.
