Death claimed Mrs. S. E. Howell after a long illness last Sunday evening. The funeral was held at the family residence Monday afternoon and burial at the Nocona Cemetery. The service was conducted by Rev. J. H. Henderson, the minister in charge of the Central Christian Church. Rebecca Ann Stephens was born in Franklin, Lee County, Iowa November 24, 1851 and departed this life May 31, 1914, being 62 years old. When she was 3 years old, her parents moved to Nevada, Missouri. At age of 15, she was baptized and joined the church at Nevada. At age of 23, she married Samuel E. Howell, who with 8 of their 9 children survive her. They moved to Texas in 1881 and to Nocona in 1887 and lived here since that time. The children here for the funeral were: J. C. Howell of Sonora, Texas; E. E. Howell of Hobart, Oklahoma; S. D. Howell of Wichita Falls, Coe Howell of Edinburg, Texas. The following live at home: Van, Pearl, and Cona, and Hilton, her little grandson.
