Mr. Nowell was born on April 19, 1919 in Anson, TX to Samuel Oscar and Anna Rebecca Garrett Nowell. He was a member of the Church of Christ and a retired public school administrator. He married Geraldine (Penny) Pennington on September 12, 1940 in Crosbyton, TX. Funeral services for Mr. Nowell were held on Tuesday, February 19, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Church of Christ with Dr. Virgil Trout and Minister Dale Scott officiating. Interment was held in Nocona Cemetery under the direction of Jerry Woods Funeral Home. Surviving relatives include: his wife, Penny Nowell of Nocona, TX; one son, Marc Nowell of Irving, TX; three daughters, Janice Huddleston of Wichita Falls, TX, Kerry Ellis of Ardmore, OK, and Lynna Summers of Ponca City, OK; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Pallbearers include: Ken Huddlenton, Jeffery Huddleston, Chad Ellis, Scott Summers, Kevin Kirkpatric, David Jones, and Zachary Nowell.
