Private Otto G. Rolls, who was wounded at the front in France in 1918 and who died in a hospital in that country Dec. 15, 1918, was returned to the parents at Nocona and was buried in the Nocona Cemetery January 12, 1921. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Church L. Rolls; he was born August 2, 1894 and died in France Dec. 15, 1918. The body was landed at Hoboken, New Jersey Dec. 18, 1920 and arrived in Nocona Jan. 11, 1921. The funeral service was conducted by Elder F. S. Vance of the Church of Christ. All Nocona business houses were closed from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. for the funeral. The body was laid to rest in the presence of a large congregation, and with military honors by former service men, and with these we venture to pause a moment to honor a hero, whose sacrifice with unnumbered thousands of others, American politicians have rendered almost fruitless.
