He was born August 7, 1914 in Center, CO to Carl J. and Hattie Daniels Slater. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Holiday Ramblers RV Club and RoadRunner Square Dance Club.

Graveside services were Saturday, February 9, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. in Nocona Cemetery, under the direction of Scott-Morris Funeral Home.

Survivors include: two daughters, Carolyn Spencer of Wichita Falls, TX and Patricia Dixon of London, England; three grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two nieces and one nephew.
