Sergeant Major Ret. Harold \"Mack\" McAlvain, 78, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2011, in Nocona, Texas.

Mack was born December 15, 1932 to Sarah \"Louise\" Woodside and William \"Polk\" McAlvain in Oologah, OK. Mack graduated from Oologah High School in 1950 and then joined the service and served his country in the US Air Force, he retired after 33 years of service, and the rank of Sergeant Major. He was active in the VFW Bowie Post, the DAV, the American Legion Post 252 of Bowie, where he served as Commander. He was a member of the Chocktaw Nation of Oklahoma. Was a faithful member of Jean’s Men’s Bible Class, and enjoyed the social coffee hour. Mack was very active in the Nocona Cemetery Association.

Funeral Services were Thursday, March 3, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Jean’s Men’s Bible Class in Nocona. Interment was in Nocona Cemetery.

He is survived by his children, Richard McAlvain of Okla City, OK, Patricia London of Okla City, OK, Kevin McAlvain & Tammy of Okla City, OK, Carrie Haslacker of Clarksville, TX, step-children, Sherry King of Bridgeport, Tony Martin of Sanger, Leslie Martin of Winniewood, OK, 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, brother Edward L. McAlvain of Wichita Falls, TX, and sister in law Jackie McAlvain of Seminole, OK.
