NOCONA – Dorotha L. “Dot” Martin, 97, died March 29, 2017 in Gainesville, TX.
A graveside service was at 1 p.m. March 31 at Nocona Cemetery under the direction of Jerry Woods Funeral Home.
She was born Jan. 15, 1920 in Gainesville to Doc and Voncile Vineyard. She was a graduate of Gainesville High School.
From 1940 she spent her adult life in Nocona where she co-owned a ladies’ dress shop downtown. She also worked at Nocona General Hospital in the ‘50s and ‘60s. She was a member of Nocona Order of the Eastern Star; a charter member of the Crepe Myrtle Garden Club and a member of the First Baptist Church. She was a charter member of the Gee Whiz Band.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lee; daughter, Lou Ann Martin and three brothers, Jack, Raymond and Walter.
She is survived by her daughter, Dotty Doyle, Denton; granddaughter, Lee Martin and great-grandson, Gavin Martin Colleyville.
