Valentine Waters, 83, of Nocona, Texas went to be with her Savior on December 12, 2018. Val was born February 14, 1935 to Noah Abner and Ruby (Hawkins) Waters in Bonita. She attended school in Nocona where she excelled in basketball and was a member of the 1953 Regional Championship team that went to state. One former teammate said she had a pivot shot that was as good as any boy. She was selected to the All State team that year. Following graduation from Nocona High School in 1953, she attended East Texas Baptist College in Marshall where she majored in Speech and Drama and Physical Education. She graduated in 1957 and taught in Yorktown, East Bernard, Boling, and Corpus Christi, Texas and Shreveport, Louisiana. Her drama and athletic teams won numerous awards, including first place at the state drama competition. After 16 years of teaching she began a new career in business. She became the office manager for several businesses in the Bedford area tackling any new task with determination. A celebration of her life was held at 2:00 on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the Jerry Woods Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dale Berry, pastor of Bethel Baptist Church, officiating. Burial followed at the Nocona Cemetery. She is survived by numerous nephews and nieces.
