Myrlene Lynn Allred, 81, made her journey home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2022 in Nocona, TX.  She was born on Oct. 19, 1940 in Abilene, TX to the late Harvey & Bessie Smith.  She married Dub Huckaby in Abilene, TX on March 10, 1957 they had one daughter.  She later married Nathan Eugene Allred on February 21, 1976 in Perryton, TX, they were married 44 years.  Myrlene’s first love was her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  She shared her faith with everyone she knew.  She loved sharing her knowledge of the Word with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth “Beth” Ann West and husband Kenneth of Nocona, TX, step-son, Tim Allred of Fort Worth, step-daughter, Elizabeth Haug and husband Darold of Las Vegas, Nevada, granddaughters, Heather Whitsett & husband Brent of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Brittany Johnson and husband Jeremy of Nocona, TX and 5 step-grandchildren, Alex Buell, Victoria Pollard, Kendra Allred, Reuben Allred and Natalie Allred, 2 great-granddaughters, Londyn and Charlee Maye, great-grandsons Dean and Korbyn and 2 nieces, Leslieann Love and Judy Cosway.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Dub Huckaby and Nathan Allred, sister, Etta Vernice Watson, and brother, H.B. Smith.  Myrlene worked as a nurse at Nocona Nursing Home during the 1970s until marrying Nathan and residing in Perryton where they still have many treasured friends.  She and Nathan also painted Oil Tanks for Diamond Shamrock where he was a pumper.  They moved to Wichita Falls before returning to Nocona where they lived for 9 years.  Her favorite pastime was yard work, mowing and art.  She had a huge heart for all animals.  Many strays found a home in her heart.  There will be a visitation on Sunday, February 27, 2022 from 5 – 6 P.M. at Jerry Woods Funeral Home Chapel in Nocona.  A funeral service will follow on Monday, February 28, 2022 at 3 P.M. at Nocona Cemetery officiated by Minister James Messer.  Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Lucky Paws Animal Shelter in Nocona.  The family would like to extend a heart of thanks to Aviator Nurse & Therapist.
