V.R. “Boomer” Tuggle, 95, died on March 21, 2022 in Wichita Falls, TX. He was born on December 1, 1926 at his home in Cooke County Texas. He was one of eight sons and three daughters born to Sam & Minnie Tuggle. Two of his brothers died shortly after birth. He was the last of the boys to pass away. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruby Joyce Tuggle and his parents Same & Minnie Tuggle. Of his sisters he is survived by Francis Parson of Saint Jo, TX and Mildred Pitman of Thackerville, OK. He is also survived by his daughter, Chris Weatherread & boyfriend Tooter Hare of Nocona, TX and his son, Billy Ray Tuggle & wife Bobbie of Nocona, TX. He is also survived by three grandsons, Stephen, John David & Jason Tuggle and their wives, and six great-grandchildren as well as several nieces & nephews. He worked all of his life as a mechanic and car dealer in Nocona until he retired in his late 70’s. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on May 24, 1945. He went through Army Boot Camp at Fort Hood, TX. After training he was assigned to the Motor Pool for a short period of time and later was sent to Fort Sill for a short period. From Fort Sill he was sent to Fort Knox, KY where he was assigned to the Motor Pool as foreman to the automotive repair shop as the staff sergeant in charge. His job was to train mechanics. After the Army began down-sizing in 1946, he was given an honorable discharge on September 9, 1946 at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX. He was made an honorable member of Nocona V.F.W. several years ago. There will be a visitation on Thursday, March 24, 2022 from 6 – 7 P.M. at Jerry Woods Funeral Home Chapel in Nocona, TX. There will be a service on Friday, March 25, 2022 at 2 P.M. at Nocona Cemetery officiated by Rev. Ricky Kerr. Pallbearers will be Ricky Tuggle, Lane Tuggle, Owen Tuggle, Joseph Tuggle, John David Tuggle, Stephen Tuggle, Jason Tuggle, Ron Anders and Bill Anders. Memorial donations may be made to Lucky Paws Animal Shelter in Nocona.
