Melvin David Corley, 87 went home to be with the Lord on November 16, 2024 peacefully at his home. He was born December 20, 1936 in Joy, Texas to Clifton and Pearl (Browning) Corley. 

He attended Midway and Wichita Falls Old High School. He moved to Nocona in 1954 and graduated with the class of 1955. At Nocona High School, he met the love of his life, Minnie Kerr. He asked her for a date and they later married at Northside Baptist Church on September 21, 1956 and they just recently celebrated their 68th anniversary.  Mel led a busy and successful life. He served in the military and when discharged on August 11, 1965, he was a Staff Sergeant E6 with Troop A Second Squadron 124 Calvary. He was Nocona Boot Company supervisor for over 30 years and a licensed realtor. He was a member of Northside Landmark Missionary Baptist Church where he served as deacon, director of music and Sunday School superintendent. Mel also obtained an Associate Degree from North Central Texas College. Mel is past worshipful master of the Nocona Lodge #753, past worthy patron of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #62. In his active years he was a Scottish Rite and a member of the Maskat Shrine Temple in Wichita Falls. He also served as chairman of the board for the Rainbow Girls. He coached the Nocona Boot Company little league baseball team and led them to receive the first-place trophy. He served as official scorekeeper for the girl’s softball league and was a cub scout master for troop 108. 

Mel is proceeded in death by his parents, Clifton and Pearl Corley; sisters Patsy Whitsitt and Mary Jo Murry; brothers Dale Corley and Steve Corley, niece Heather Corley, and great-granddaughter Laci Stone, who no doubt welcomed him to Heaven with the best hug and the biggest smile.  

He is survived by his wife, Minnie Corley; daughter Carol Patterson; son John Corley and wife Jan; grandchildren Chelsi Stone and husband Haydan, David Locke and wife Shannon, Jordan Corley and Andrea Guthrie; and great-grandchildren Johnathan and Kaygan Stone, Corley, Parker, Casen, Josiah and Charlie Locke. Also, numerous nieces, nephews, family members, and lots of friends.  

Servies will be Tuesday November 19, 2024 at The First Baptist Church in Nocona, TX. Visitation will be at 10:00 am and funeral services will be at 11:00 am. Following the service, interment will be at the Nocona cemetery under the direction of Jerry Woods Funeral Home. Pallbearers are David Locke, Jordan Corley, Haydan Stone, Johnathan Stone, Bryan Galvan and Eric Galvan. Honorary pallbearers are Brad Corley, Lanny Evans, and Susan and Kenny Mayo. 

Memorial donations may be made to the Northside Landmark Missionary Baptist Church of Nocona, Texas.
