Funeral services were held for Mrs. Chris Holt on Sunday, July 8, at 3 p. m.. at the First Baptist Church. Rev. R. H. Riley conducted the service. Interment was made in the Nocona Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Daugherty Funeral Home. Serina Smith Holt was born June 1, 1889. near Nocona where she lived until her marriage to Chris Holt on December 31, 1916. A few years later they moved to Nocona where they have since made their home. Mrs. Holt died July 6, 1945. at the Bethania Hospital in Wichita Falls, after a lingering illness. She was converted at the age of 22 years and joined the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, which was located 10 miles northeast of Nocona. Ill health prevented her from attending church regularly for several years before her death. She is survived by her husband, Chris Holt, her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Smith of Nocona: two sisters. Mrs. Rosa Hodges of San Francisco and Mrs. Grover Weiss of Douglas, Wyoming; one niece, Audris Hodges of San Francisco, California: two nephews, Milvin Hodges of the armed forces and Bill Weiss of the armed forces. She was a true friend, a loving daughter, and sister, and a faithful wile. she gave her first thought to those she loved. Source: Nocona News
