Mrs. Elizabeth Willhite was born May 29, 1819 in McMinn County, Tennessee, daughter of Rev. Robert Walker, a local Methodist preacher. She was married to Joseph Willhite in Tennessee and he died 22 years ago in Cooke County, Texas. They moved to Polk County, Missouri in 1847... to Collins County, Texas in 1868 and to Cooke County in 1888 where her husband died. She then came to Montague County and made her home with her nephew, W. J. Priddy, until the death of his first wife, then she lived with Mrs. E. T. Coe, her niece, until death called her. She as converted and joined the Methodist Church when she was 15 years old and for over 80 years lived a true and ever devoted Christian life. She was 94 years old, 8 months, and 15 days of age. The funeral was held at the Methodist Church and interment in the Nocona cemetery Thursday. She died Wednesday, February 4, just 22 years to a day after her husband, who was a veteran of the Mexican War, for which she was drawing a pension and a voucher became due on the day she died. A long life and closing with two coincidences very much unusual.
