Gilbert Lovett, 80, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2008, in Jacksboro.  

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5, at Coker Funeral Home Chapel with Eugene Weldon officiating. Burial will follow a noon at Nocona Cemetery. Visitation is from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, at Coker Funeral Home.

Mr. Lovett was born Oct. 12, 1927, in Spanish Fort to the late Cora (Martin) and George Gilbert Lovett Sr. He married Vernell Heaton Oct. 29, 1982, in Wichita Falls. He was self-employed by Longhorn Pipe and Supply. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean Conflict, and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Vernell Lovett of Jacksboro; a daughter, Sandra Martin of Alexandria, La.; a son, Gary Lovett and wife Amy of Midland; a sister, Ruth Scott of Wichita Falls; five grandchildren, Sara Letznen, Tamy Lovett, Sam Lovett, Jack Bradley and Krista Pearson; and five great-grandchildren.
