Charles Clayton Davis peacefully went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 27th, 2018. He was born in Nocona December 8, 1942 to Lena Mae and J.C. Davis. Charles graduated Nocona High School in May 1962 and in the fall started North Texas State University. He was drafted into the Army in 1966 during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1968. He returned to the Dallas area to complete his degree from North Texas getting a Bachelor of Arts degree in business. After graduating he worked as a purchasing agent for several large corporations during his career, including Texas Instruments, Overhead Door, and Chicago Pneumatic. At the time of his death, Charles was retired.

Charles was preceded in death by his father, J.C. Davis, his mother Lena Mae Davis, and sister Christine Reed of Pembrook, Florida. He is survived by his two sisters, Catherine Scott of Pottsboro, TX and Jan Taylor of Lubbock, TX, four nieces and three nephews.

Growing up in Nocona Charles was the youngest member of the men's choir at the First United Methodist Church. He was seven years old and gained the nickname of "Shorty." He attended all rehearsals, learned the music, and traveled with the group on all singing performances. At a very young age, he started golfing with his dad. Golf became his passion to play. He especially enjoyed when he could finally beat his father's score. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and an active member of the Methodist Youth Fellowship. Since leaving Nocona, he has been a member of the Casa Linda Methodist Church, Dallas, where he sang in the choir, was a youth sponsor, and served on several Administration Board positions.

Charles loved to cook and was famous for his baked beans and homemade ice cream. He was a member of the Lion's Club, Casa Linda Methodist Church Methodist Men, Veteran's Association, and a lifetime member of the US Golf Association.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, January 30th at Nocona Cemetery with Jim Taylor and Cindy Treat officiating. Scott-Morris Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be appreciated given to the First United Methodist Church, Nocona.
