Theodore McNabb, 93, was born April 12, 1929 and passed away April 17, 2022. Ted was born and raised in Nocona. He was preceded in death by his parents Lewis and Ruby McNabb, wife Elva Jo, and great grandson PFC Grayson Michael Simonds United States Army 11B. Ted graduated from Nocona High School in 1946 and married Elva Jo on August 2, 1947. He owned and operated McNabb Feed Store, together with his father Lewis and son Kelly. Ted could often be seen on the front porch of the Feed Store cheering on the student athletes and coaches as their buses passed by on their way to the many playoff and championship games for the Nocona Indians. McNabb Feed Store was the longest running business in Montague County since its purchase in 1930 and a third-generation operation. Ted grew up helping his father, E. L. (Lewis), in the business and Ted’s son, Kelly followed in his father’s footsteps. Ted served in various civic and volunteer positions over his lifetime. He was a Charter member of the Jaycees, Director of the Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Agricultural Committee, VP of the Nocona Volunteer Fire Department, Director at the F&M National bank, served on the Homecoming committee, and helped to organize the Nocona Rural Fire Department that serves Nocona to this day. Ted had such a love for the city of Nocona, his friends, his class of ‘46 and most of all, his family. In their 69 years of marriage, Ted and Elva Jo loved to square dance with their friends and play cards and dominoes. He could take on anyone in checkers! They built a lake house on Lake Nocona that they loved to share with their friends and family. He was a rancher and a businessman and a lover of animals. You could sometimes see Ted and Elva Jo riding the four- wheeler on Blue Mound Rd with smiles on their faces and the wind in their hair enjoying life in the country they loved. Ted is survived by his children, Beverly and John Reynolds from McKinney, Kelly and Ann McNabb from Nocona, and Mitzi and Styron Thomas from Tulsa, Okla.; grandchildren Kevin and Krissy Womack, Heather and Mike Simonds, Aneita Clayton, Trevor Thomas, and Morgan and Tori Thomas; Great grandchildren Bailey and Kri Simonds, Tyler Womack, Kallie Womack, Stefanie and Joe Horton, and Jessica and Mathew Erwin; and 9 great-great grandchildren. Funeral will be held Tuesday May 3rd at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Valleri Sewell officiating. Ted’s family will receive visitors at the First United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. Tuesday May 3rd. A private burial will be held later. Ted was a charitable man and would love for you to support Nocona Lucky Paws, Nocona Rural Fire Department or the Nocona First United Methodist Church with your donation.
