Darrell Gene Fuller passed away in Nocona, Texas on December 7, 2023. He was born in Bowie, Texas on October 19, 1946 to Joseph Donohue Fuller and Thelma Lea Capps Fuller. Darrell was in the graduating class of 1965 from Nocona High School. He then finished certification as a diesel mechanic from James Connally Technical Institute in 1967. He began his work career with Caterpilar in Irving, Texas. He worked for several years in Nocona as a diesel mechanic. Upon retirement he worked for Tales N’ Trails Museum in Nocona, Texas where he was surrounded with history, and he loved to share with others about the history of the town, county and state. Darrell loved people and was always stopping to visit with friends, both old and new. He loved music and attending concerts, and the Eagles were one of his favorite groups. He also enjoyed watching sports events as well as old movies and westerns. Darrell appreciated a good laugh, was always up for a Frisbee toss, and routinely schooled his family in the art of a perfect egg toss which was a favorite Easter tradition. Darrell is survived by his son, Chris Fuller of Denison, Texas; daughter, Angie Beeson and husband Michael of Denison, Texas; sister, Karen Howard of Graham, Texas; brother, Carroll Fuller and wife Treva of Nocona, Texas; several nephews and nieces; cousins; and Sharon Vrtiska, the mother of his children. He loved his family dearly and especially enjoyed the cousins’ reunions in recent years. A visitation will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023 from 6 – 7 P.M. at Jerry Woods Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 2 P.M. at First United Methodist Church in Nocona officiated by Pastor Valleri Sewell. Interment will follow in Nocona Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Beeson, Krysta and Larry Moore, Kaleb and Jordan Fuller, Allison and Micah Stephens, and Ashlie and Terry Bagley. Honorary Pallbearers are Dennis and Nell Ann McBroom, Wesley and Vicki Morton, Max Brown and Steve Howard. Memorials may be made to Tales N’ Trails Museum, 1522 US 82, Nocona, TX 76255 or a charity of your choice.
