NOCONA - Floyd L.V. Womack, 94, died June 16, 2013 in Nocona, TX. Visitation was from 6-7 p.m. June 19 at Jerry Woods Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. June 19 at First Baptist Church of Nocona. Womack was born April 4, 1919 in Okemah, OK to Blanche Ellen (Crow) and John Roy Womack. He married Peggy Jean Hankins on July 9, 1941 in Duncan, OK. Womack was a decorated veteran who served in the United States Army (Company A, 376th Infantry Division) during WWII as a machine gunner. He received a Bronze Star Medal for heroic actions he took on March 21, 1945. He worked 19 years for Union Tank and Supply before becoming owner and operator of the Mobil Shell Station. He was a member of the Maskat Temple in Wichita Falls, the Masonic Lodge of Nocona and had a 32nd degree. He wasa member of the Jean’s Mens Bible Class in Nocona and a former member of the Nocona ISD Board of Trustees. He is survived by one son, Roger Leland Womack; brother Clifford Womack and sister Norma Roberts; six grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and special family friends.
