Martha Carol Tucker Hinton, 84, died on Aug. 9, 2019 in Gainesville, TX. A visitation was from 6-7 p.m. on Aug. 12 at Jerry Woods Funeral Home Chapel in Nocona. The funeral service was at 10 a.m. on Aug. 13 at Jerry Woods Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Lew Lobben officiating. Interment followed in Nocona Cemetery. Hinton was born on Oct. 12, 1934 in Spanish Fort to Raymond and Mabel Price Tucker. She was a member of the Spanish Fort Methodist Church which consolidated with the Nocona First United Methodist Church. She married John Ed Hinton Jr. one day before she graduated from Prairie Valley High School in May of 1953. She worked for the Nocona Telephone Company until she moved with her husband to San Marcos. There she was a secretary on the Air Force Base until they were transferred to Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls in 1956. She went to work at the U.S. Post Office as a rural mail carrier and retired from there in October of 1999. Preceding her in death was her husband of 64 years, John Ed Hinton Jr.; son, James Grayson Hinton; parents, Raymond and Mabel Tucker; and brother, David Lynn Tucker. She is survived by her sister, Barbara Kelly; two nephews; brother, W.R. Tucker, Nocona; a niece; three grandnieces and two great nephews.
