On June 4, 2024 Alpha Lee Underwood fell asleep and awoke to Heaven's splendor in the presence of her Savior. Alpha Lee Reynolds was born December 20, 1932 to Earl and Ruby Larison Reynolds in Terral, Oklahoma. As the oldest child Alpha began looking after the younger siblings, a task she would continue for the rest of her life. It was in this time that Alpha Lee was shortened to Alphie, a name which most still use. In the early 50s, Alpha met and fell in love with a Nocona boy and on November 27, 1952 she married Wilton Ross Underwood. They would spend the next 65 years side by side in everything. Then, in 1954 Jo Ann was born and completed the trio. Family was important to Alpha. She was a historian when it came to knowing the genealogy and who belonged to who. She knew everyone's birthday and, unfortunate for a few, their real ages. She never relinquished her need to take care of her family. All it took was a phone call and she was there to make sure everything was handled the best way, which was usually her way. Alpha spent most of her working years behind a sewing machine. She was an amazing seamstress and could mend anything. She retired from The Nocona Boot Company in 1999 and used her extra time to tend to her plants and spoil her grandchildren. Alpha was an active member of the Nocona Church of the Nazarene and held the title of "Oldest Church Member" for several years. She loved her church and was always ready to make a big batch of cupcakes for VBS. Her church family was as close to her as her own and she loved on them and picked on them just as much. Every conversation she had about her church always included the phrase "That Rodney" Alpha loved old hymns and would often be found humming and whistling them at any given time. She taught her oldest grandson to start singing hymns right after he learned to talk. She was a hard worker and, much to the chagrin of all that knew her, a Mrs. Fix-it. When something needed to be done, she did it and never once complained. She always said "I just bat my ears and get it done." Alpha always looked out for the needs and worries of everyone around her with grace and humility that will be truly missed. Alpha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 65 years Wilton Underwood, son-in-law, Rev. Clay Hale, Sisters: Gladys May Reynolds and Emma Nell Durham and Brother Earl (Junior) Reynolds. Alpha leaves behind daughter Jo Ann Hale of Nocona, grandsons Brandon Hale of Abilene and Brian Hale of Andrews, great- granddaughters Bristol and August Hale, special grandson Michael Threatt of Huntsville, Sisters, Opal Wilson of Duncan, OK, Karen Woods of Whitewright, Barbara Haney of Bedford and Sandra Scully brothers: Bill Reynolds of St. Jo, Johnny Reynolds of Ringgold, and Charlie Reynolds of Terral numerous nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends. Visitation will be held Friday, June 7thfrom 6 to 7 PM at the Jerry Woods Funeral Home Chapel with Services to be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 8th at the Jerry Woods Chapel with Pastor Marvin Pepper officiating.
