Robert Lee Simpson, age 85 years, 3 months and 18 days, passed from this life on September 12, 2020 in Nocona, Texas. The family will receive friends, Friday, September 18 from 6-7 p.m. at Scott-Morris Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at Nocona Cemetery on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 1 p.m. Robert was born to William Robert, "W. R." and Cordia "Cordie" Simpson on May 25, 1935 in Nocona. A lifelong Nocona resident, Robert attended Nocona High School. After high school, Robert worked as a shipping manager for Nocona Boots for approximately 35 years. Robert loved boots so much that he collected in excess of 50 pairs! Robert was a long time member of the Jaycees, where he enjoyed the camaraderie as well as the community service. Robert was a very social person. He never met a stranger! You could say, "Uncle Robert, do you know so-and-so?" He would not only know them, but their parents, their kids, their spouse, ex-spouse, cousin, everybody! Robert loved football. His favorite football teams were (1) Da Bears! and (2) whoever was playing against the Cowboys. Among all the loves and joys of his life, one of the greatest was chocolate! He always had chocolate, and even in the nursing home always had chocolate to share. Robert was a man of conviction. If you ever talked politics with Robert, you knew he was a Democrat. If you ever talked faith with him, you knew he was a Christian. Robert was a member of the First Baptist Church. Some of his greatest joy was in creation - cats and bird watching, in particular. Robert's life exuded joy. He was constantly upbeat, and just being around him would lift your spirits. His favorite way to bring joy and laughter was playing pranks on people, and he was the best trickster there was! While Robert knew how to play a prank or make you laugh, he also knew how to take care of those he loved. Robert was a devoted son, and he became his parents' caretaker in their later years. Those that live on to cherish his memory are his nephews, Lloyd Simpson and wife Lori, Terry Simpson and wife Tashia, Randy Simpson and wife Debra; and nieces Carol Hale and Kay Cook; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, and a host of friends.
